Also called rosewood, this is the national tree of the Philippines. Its trunk is often
twisted and gnarled, usually buttressed. BARK Yellowish to greenish brown, flaking
in thin plates; inner bark yields red sap. LEAF Alternate, pinnate with 5–11 leaflets.
FLOWER Borne in axillary racemes, yellow to orangeyellow, fragrant. FRUIT Circular pod.
