Also known as the Western Australian Christmas Tree, this evergreen shrub or small tree is semiparasitic, getting water and nutrients from the roots of grasses and other plants
up to 500 ft (150 m) away. Its spectacular flowers bloom for several months around Christmas.
Its thin, long leaves give the tree an untidy appearance. BARK Rough, gray-brown. LEAF Linear, dark green. FLOWER In clusters on branched inflorescences. FRUIT Dry nut with three broad, leathery wings.
