This small tree or thorny shrub is also called golden mimosa. Its flowers are used to produce “Cassie” perfume, which is an ingredient of many cosmetics and fine perfumes. BARK Dark brown, smooth. LEAF Alternate, bipinnate with linear to oblong leaflets in 10–25 pairs. FLOWER Mostly bisexual, in axillary, rounded flower heads, with numerous stamens; sweetly scented. FRUIT Sausagelike, brownish black pod.
