The short trunk of this tree is enlarged and bottle-shaped, enabling it to store water. BARK Grayish brown, smooth. LEAF Alternate, with 3–7 elliptic to ovate or obovate leaflets. FLOWER Axillary, solitary, large, with oblong to spoonshaped petals, white to cream, numerous stamens. FRUIT Brown capsule, velvety hairy surface, with kidney-shaped seeds.
