The hard, durable wood of this conifer is used for buildings and to make tea chests. BARK Orange or pink-brown, cracks with age. LEAF Needles in fives, 6–8 in (15–20 cm) long, green on top, bluish white lines below. FLOWER Males: yellow, in clusters; females: greenyellow in groups of up to six. FRUIT Long cones, mature from green to pale brown.
